Bimota Tesi 2D

Bimota
Tesi 2D

At $47,868 in Italy, the Tesi 2D is hardly inexpensive. But it's genuinely different from anything else, and fittingly quite rare. Moreover, the 2D's lack of bodywork and its cheeky stance are an aesthetic improvement. Sharing only its overall architecture with the original, the Tesi 2D is a brilliantly functional technological tour de force.

The TESI is an extremely light motorcycle, characterized by an enormously easy drivability, a revolutionary and exclusive style, and the integration of components at the forefront of technology.

The extraordinary Bimota Tesi 2D is the culmination of this sophisticated project, offering an amazing combination of attributes; an incredibly light machine built using the best quality high-tech components, with a revolutionary style that delivers easy handling and unique riding experience.

The Tesi 1D is the first all Italian motorcycle that Bimota ever made. The 1D is all Italian because it had a Ducati engine.

“The 3D has extra connotations best described as a 3D feast of motorcycle engineering jewellery! Every time you look at this smorgasbord of aluminium, chromalloy, and carbon fiber you spot some new intricate detail. The bike is one of only a handful in the country being ridden, the others are in living rooms as art pieces.”

The motorcycle weighs only 167 kg and is propelled by a Ducati Desmodromic, L-Twin cylinder engine with a displacement of 1078cc. Fire it up and it will crank out a maximum output of 100HP (69.9Kw) at 7750 rpm and 94Nm of torque at 5250 Rpm. All this power is kept under control by a six speed transmission.
The stopping power is handled by front double discs (320mm) and a rear single disc (220mm), both grabbed by Brembo calipers.
The Tesi 3D E in this test is an evolution of the 3D which includes a further revised front shock position. The 3D pull-rod mechanism hydraulic suspension which was located low beside the engine has been replaced on this evo version with a more traditional spring over damper shock directly mounted on the front swingarm translating into more responsive damping of the front end. The evo version also has heaps more carbon fibre and a very handy STM slipper clutch.
